Public Hearing Brings Relief to Two Needy Families in Gonda, Ration Cards Issued After Verification

Gonda: Two economically vulnerable families, including one belonging to a person with disability, received relief after approaching the public hearing, or Janata Darshan, organised at the Gonda Collectorate. Following verification of their eligibility, ration cards were issued to both families on the directions of District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan.

During the Janata Darshan, Divyang resident Triveni, son of Shiv Bachan, from Baseya Chain village in Pandri Kripal development block, and Saroj Kumari, wife of late Puttan, from Barbatpur village in Haldharmau development block, approached the District Magistrate with their grievances.

Both complainants informed the District Magistrate that their families did not have ration cards and that there was no earning member in their households. They said their weak financial circumstances had made it difficult to meet the basic needs of their families.

Taking immediate cognisance of the matter, District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan directed the District Supply Officer to verify the eligibility of both families and initiate the process of issuing ration cards in accordance with the prescribed rules. She instructed officials to ensure that eligible beneficiaries received the cards without delay so that they could access the government’s foodgrain welfare schemes.

Acting on the District Magistrate’s directions, the District Supply Officer conducted eligibility verification of both families. Following confirmation that they met the prescribed criteria, ration cards were issued to them as per the rules.

The newly issued ration cards were subsequently handed over personally to the two complainants by District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan during the Janata Darshan at the Collectorate.

The beneficiaries expressed happiness and thanked the district administration for resolving their grievances promptly. They said that the swift action following their appearance at the public hearing had provided significant relief to their families.

The District Magistrate said that, in accordance with the government’s vision, ensuring that eligible and needy people receive the benefits of welfare schemes remains a priority of the district administration.

She directed officials to ensure that complaints received during Janata Darshan are resolved in a timely and qualitative manner so that eligible citizens do not face difficulties in accessing government welfare schemes and essential services.
